ABOUT WONOSOBO

Wonosobo, is a regency in Central Java province of Indonesia. The capital town located at valley around Sindoro mountain (high: 3.136 meter), Sumbing mountain (high: 3.371 meter), and Dieng plateau with average high 2.100 meter and Dieng plateau also have many mountains around, ones of most (high: 2.265 meter) the pick of Dieng plateau called Perahu mountain. Dieng also most stable vulcano area in the world. Wonosobo located around 2 hours from Yogyakarta city or 1 hour from Borobudur tample.

Wonosobo have different area and image with mostly Indonesian place where tropic and hot temperature, but Wonosobo have fresh and cold temperature specialy on higher area. In the midnight until dawn of Juli and August the temperature can turn down 0 celcius degree until -5 (minus degree). Sometimes in the morning at these season we can see thin snow patch around grass and tree leaf. And in day around 10 degree until 15 degree specialy around Dieng plateau or other high area. In the capital town the temperature around 15 degree in the night or dawn and 15 degree until 20 degree in day, but in other season after september until Mei the temperature around 20 degree until 27 degree, specialy on lower area.

Wonosobo have beautiful nature, some people said the nature in Wonosobo it's samiliar with Europe, some another people said it's The Europe in Indonesia, some other people said it's like a Pieces of Europe land where stranded in Java island. However Wonosobo have some differences with Europe specialy in a kind of people (mostly Javanese) and about the traditional culture, but lately the people also plural, easy going, and open mainded, specialy the youth. Essentially Wonosobo people very kind to one each other, as long I stay in Wonosobo I feel the people very friendly. The capital town lately develop to be modern-traditional style, thought this is small city with modern minded people, at least we can find any stuff and society like where available in a big city although not at all quite same. Altoght going to modern Wonosobo people alwayse keep culture of hospitality also to foreign people.

HISTORY ANALIZE

The comfortable place and beautiful Image of Wonosobo make this regency become favorite place for Natherland and Germany people to live here until hundred years and make descent, houses, school, church, Synagogue, and many more, some from them get merried with local people with many reason. As we know since hundreds year ago Spain, Portugal, and mostly Natherland colonize Indonesia, then in last four year Japan occoupy Indonesia before this country get Independent. Wonosobo have many kind of recources and still many not explore yet, altought colonializm already exist since long time ago.  There is big value of mine, and other nature recources.

However we still can see old traditional culture of Wonosobo, and it's also interesting to explore. As we know since thousands year ago in this area human civilization alredy exist here. We can find artifacts and heritage here, for example tample and civilian culture. More than 400 tample buried under ground but already found by dig around 8 tample. The tample around Dieng plateau are oldest Hindu tample in Java Island, also can be called this culture already exist before in Bali island, as old history record said that people (Hindu) from this area move (deploy) to Bali many years ago at the time of Java kingdoms, its proof by the same name of places around Dieng (Wonosobo), the culture, artifact, and many more. They move because muslim kingdom occupy these area, and then several country from Europe come here and make assimilation between local with Europe culture, tradition, religion atc.

People said Dieng is the land of God there is in history of javanese mitology believe that Dieng is the place where God's live, but however in my perception the land of God is Jerusalem, so don't feel provocated by these local mitology, and it's your right to have your own perception, anyway I respect the differences :). Dieng also called the land above cloud because in this area many vilages located at high land and some of them located above cloud position. The name Dieng comes from "Di Hyang" which means "Abode of the God's". For javanese, there is the place with many mitology of Mahabharata. But as long  as I live in Wonosobo I feel comfortable without feel like in "horor place". But I recognize that the place around Wonosobo is beautyful nature, fresh air, friendly people and prulal.

Dreadlock hair cut Festival

Dreadlock Child in Dieng people believed as son/doughter of God's, or reincarnation or descent of "Ki Kolodate" the founder who establish Dieng area. In this festival parent and organizer give anything that Dreadlock hair child wants. They believe if they not give what the child want, there is will be disaster, but if the child get what he/she want, the child will give lucky or succsess for the perent or the people who he/she want. Usualy after the hair already cuted, it growing normaly and not growing dreadlock anymore. Strangely every year there is will be new child with dreadlock hair, so every year or several months this ceremonial held.

Dieng Culture Festival and Wonosobo Culture Festival usualy not held at same time, they have special part of art performence or culture ceremonial in each Feastival. But essentially in Wonosobo Culture Festival more complate art and culture performence, also Dieng culture and art with other area of Wonosobo also become participant by their other art and culture. As we know Indonesia have many culture and language.  Wonosobo not only have Dieng Culture Festival and Wonosobo Culture Festival. They also have other traditional Festival, for example : Wonsobo Food Festival, Kirab Budaya Festival, Tenongan Festival, Nyadran Festival, Batik Festival, and others traditional Festival. Wonosobo also have modern festival, for example, Wonosobo Costume Carnival, Wonosobo Baloon Festival, Wonosobo Music Festival, Wonosobo Contemporary Art Festival, and other festival or exhibition. Usualy in every festival combined by several art performence. Festival's in Wonosobo not onlly held annualy, but any people posible to held traditional art and culture performence anytime they want, for example in weding ceremonial, welcoming guest, thanksgiving, or other celebration. They held festival or art and culture performence to enliven celebration.

Located on the center/midle of top of Sindoro mountain 3.136m to get this lake rich by walk. Before it is vulcano, the wather can be less in dry season. Around peak are wide area with several rare kind of grass and edleweis flower

Purwaceng, vitality plant (grow in Wonosobo mountain or Dieng)
Purwaceng:  Purwa  is mean: very ,  Ceng  is mean: strong (this is natural medicine of impotence)
